This book has been one of my favourite I've read to date and while it does have an American lean, its lessons are there for everyone. It's hard to describe this book, which takes lessons learned in nature and applies it to creating a better, more open and accepting world, because it is not simply nature-writing, it is a guide for how we could live. It offers a hopeful, better future, which is easily in our grasp but also just out of reach unless we work together. Read my review here.

This may not be the cheapest you can find this book, but every sale benefits indpenedent store The Bookshop in East Grinstead, a wonderful, beautiful, historical, haphazard place of books and coffee and cakes.
